Bereits seit 1956 als "Tag der Fahne" gefeiert, markiert der 26. Oktober das Ende der Besatzung, 10 Jahre nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, und den Tag an dem Österreich seine Neutralität erklärt hat.
In the capital Vienna, this day is traditionally celebrated with a military parade, many state museums offer reduced entrance tickets, and schools, public buildings and private houses all over the country proudly hoist the Austrian national flag. This year however, most events will take place online, including the very popular visit of the Austrian Parliament.
