As from that moment, Castilian or Spanish, the language brought from the Iberian peninsula to the new world, was diffused and became a lingua franca in America.
This language is now the second most spoken native language in the world, accounting for approximately 360 million people worldwide in 21 different countries where it has the status of official language, and is a popular second language in many others, notably the United States of America.
Today we celebrate the presence of Spanish in the world and its important position in many international organisations, such as the European Union and the United Nations. Spanish is a language of international communication and therefore it is a language of interpretation.
What a better way to commemorate this beautiful language than by training your interpreting skills with one of the 319 Spanish speeches of the Speech Repository!
Happy practice!
