Dear Speech Repository users,
Did you know that 26th September is the European Day of Languages?
It all started 22 years ago. Jointly organised by the Council of Europe and the European Union, 2001 was declared the European Year of Languages with the aim of promoting linguistic diversity in Europe and encouraging language learning.
The initiative involved 45 countries and millions of people all around Europe. Due to its success, at the end of the same year, the Council of Europe proclaimed 26th September “The European Day of Languages” with a lot of events taking place all across the continent.
Today, several events are being organised across Europe. You can check out what is happening in your country by visiting the official page of the event. This is also a perfect time to practise new languages with the help of the 4500 speeches in more than 30 European languages available on the Speech Repository.
Happy practice!
