The Great Union Day, also called Unification Day, celebrated on 1 December, is the national holiday of Romania. It commemorates the assembly of the delegates of ethnic Romanians held in the city of Alba Iulia, which declared the Union of Transylvania and the provinces of Bessarabia (the modern day Republic of Moldova) and Bukovina with Romania.
