In June 2022, Ukraine was granted European Union candidate status, which brings the country one step closer to EU membership.
As Ukraine moves towards EU integration, we on our side welcome Ukrainian into our multilingual family and are happy to announce the opening of the Ukrainian section of the Speech Repository.
What do we know about the Ukrainian language? Ukrainian is an Eastern Slavic language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet developed in 9th-10th century. The language itself originates from the language spoken in the first East Slavic state, Kyivan Rus, during the period of 10th-13th centuries.
Ukrainian is a beautiful and very melodious language. There is even an expression in Ukrainian describing the language as solovjina mova (the nightingale’s tongue).
In our new Ukrainian section, you can already find the first Ukrainian speeches on various topics suitable for different levels of interpretation practice.
We are currently preparing more practice speeches, both real-life speeches and pedagogical material. Stay tuned!
